Had the soba noodles with chicken and bok choi. The chicken had absolutely no condiments on it. It could not be more bland. Noodles were OK. 4 pieces of bok choi. Service is friendly. I rather go to Moon Thai which is 2 doors down.

Saturday night found me famished after a day of rooting for the U! What did I want, nothing else but a warm bowl of Red Curry Chicken! I walked in starving and I mean stomach inside out starving I had to control myself and not order the whole left side of the menu! I settled for an order of Crab Wontons, AWESOME!!! The Miso Soup, was ok I like mine with a litle more miso kick to it. FInally, the moment I had been waiting for a big heaping hot bowl of red curry with chicken, covered in bamboo shoots, had they read my mind and figured out that this was my favorite part of eating curry? It also had just the right amount of spice to get my nose just a wee bit runny but my only gripe was that it wasn't soggy like I like it. No worries the staff has no problem bringing out more sauce on the side. As much as I wanted to, I refrained from ordering thai donuts next time for sure! I will definately be back sooner better than later, this place has good service great food and is budget friendly!

Place used to be fantastic. The owner in his infinite wisdom has made a conscious decision to ignore customer requests and is more concerned with his bottom line. In addition, the restaurant has a major identity problem. Anyone have Gordon Ramesy's phone number?

Ok. I'm giving this place 5 stars because for the price you can't beat the food you order here. I come here as often as I humanly can. Especially when I'm on my diet of the month and Japanese food seems like the healthiest restaurant choice I can have without feeling guilty. Stir Moon is my go-to place. The sushi is cheap and really good. If you're looking for out-of-this world sushi and a unique experience, don't come here. If you're looking for a local sushi restaurant that doesn't get as packed as Akashi and is worth the $$, come here. They have a WIDE selection of food...from create your own stirs to an extensive sushi menu. I've tried all of the sushi restaurants in the surrounding area (I'm a sushi fiend) and I come back here constantly. Maybe the price is just too good and I can eat like an animal for $20. I also like the bright and open layout of the restaurant. Akashi is too dark and congested. I feel like people are watching me eat my food.

Although it's another Asian fusion place, their stir-fries were great! I think you have to find the right dishes to eat at the right places and this one, hands-down, is stir-fry! I love the way they gave us our own pots to fill up with veggies of our choice, and the sauce was delicious. Maybe it was my 'participation' in the meal, but it seemed like an awesome home-cooked kind-of meal that we'll be back for.

I FINALLY got to try Stir Moon which I had been meaning to go to since they opened and hadn't had the chance until now. Maybe I had this idea in my head that the food was going to be totally awesome and it would become my new favorite place to get Asian noodles.... well, it wasn't. My bf and I ordered the following food for take out: Tom Yum noodle soup ($10), chicken fried rice ($6) and a shrimp tempura roll ($10). The soup was really, really limey-sour. They put the broth and noodles in seperate containers (which I like) but there wasn't much besides that - noodles & broth. The very small amount of vegetables were VERY bitter and looked to be the stems of something that should be green and leafy (weird). Where was the chicken? I don't know. The fried rice was whatever and very small but only $6 so I can see why. The shrimp tempura roll was excellent! Why only two stars? Probably because I have been spoiled with amazing noodle soup at other Asian restaurants. I specifically went here looking for some great soup and that ended up being the most disappointing part of the meal. However disappointed I was, I will give it one more chance before giving up on Stir.

3.5 Stars, but I rounded up instead of down. ;-) Decided to have dinner here the other night, since I always go next door to Moon, and had never tried Stir Moon. So we decided to go ahead and give it a shot. We started with a classic, the Tuna Tataki. I found it sliced a little too thick, and cooked too much. I prefer my Tuna Tataki almost raw (SUPER rare). It was still tasty and I did enjoy it, but not the best I've had. We chose to share some rolls for dinner. I was in the mood for Yellowtail and went with the Tanzana Roll, which has Yellowtail with Asparagus, Avocado, Scallions, and the orange caviar. SO good. Quite fresh; avocado a little too soft though. Go figure, the bf orders a roll called the Playboy Roll. LOL This roll is BBQ Eel, Shrimp, Crab Meat, Orange Caviar, Cream Cheese and Scallions, as a Tempura roll. I think this was the best one! I was super impressed and satisfied. I enjoyed the bright colors and decor. A nice change from your usual Sushi/Thai places. The service was on point and our server was friendly and knowledgeable.

Great for dim sum and the prices can't be beat. It's around the corner from the Moon Thai crowds (same owners) and US1 traffic... After all, this is MIami so traffic means horns, sudden brake screeching and very loud music from open car windows. Still new enough to be tranquil, which is a rare find so close to UM.

Ok I don't know what happened here but its not good... they lost the sushi bar and the food has become just plain inedible... I am very disappointed :\

This place is an excellent place for quick Asian food. The food is not excellent but it's certainly good. The Sushi is mediocre but the soups are excellent. I highly recommend the Pad Thai, it is very well done with good presentation. Excellent for take-out as well... they really package it well. Kids are okay...nothing special for them, but they will wrap the chopsticks with rubber bands..... Enjoy!

The thai food at this place is ok. I was super excited when they had there location in front of dadeland but unfortunately it closed. I use to frequent that location for happy hour quite a bit and they had great specials so no complaints here. I recently went to this location and was not really impressed. It was ok. I guess I will continue to make the drive to Bangkok City..oh well..

I went here for lunch the other day with my co-workers. The price for the lunch specials weren't bad, and each special came with a soup and a salad. I ordered the Chicken Pad Thai that came with 2 veritable rolls & 3 pieces of sushi, white fish, tuna and salmon. I also ordered a bagel roll. The soup was very tasty and the salad was fresh with ginger dressing. The bagel rolls were fairly fresh. The lunch special however had a small portion of the Pad Thai, and I wasn't a big fan of it. It wasn't authentic Thai food, I guess because they mostly specialize in Asian cuisine, they make it different here. I would have gave it a 4 star if the portion of the Pad Thai wasn't so small. I was shocked, because normally when you order from a Thai restaurant the portions are huge! It was good for lunch, but I don't know how much they would charge for dinner and I wouldn't pay more than what I paid, which was around $11.00. Parking was also a mission, they only have about 4 spots up front we had to park almost a block away in meter parking by Denny's. This was a waste of time since we only have a limited amount of time for lunch. Other than, sushi was surprisingly fresh. Don't know if I'll go back, but if someone wanted to go, I wouldn't completely turn it down. Also very small inside, so if you don't like small places, this place is not for you.

The menus is pretty similar to Moon two doors down. But they've updated the decor and the stir fry "buffet" is amazing. I love being able to pick what veggies go in and they have several options for rice/ sauces. The best part is you can get at least three meals out of it and it's right across the street from UM. It was a positive for me - but might not be for all.

Stir Moon is the best Thai place I've found in Coral Gables so far. It's getting 4 stars because the parking is limited and it wasn't as tasty as my favorite Thai restaurant in San Francisco. Okay, that may not be fair.

I LOVE this place! How did I not go sooner?? The Stir Moon in Cutler Bay is a little skeevy at times and kinda overpriced, but THIS!! I will be back :) Yesterday I went with two teenagers - my 13 year old vegetarian daughter had spring rolls and edamame. Both were delicious, and only came to $6 for an amount of food that filled her up. Her friend had a bowl of chicken fried rice that was HUGE, had lime wedges in it, and ended up being half to take home. I got the lettuce wraps, which were as good as P.F. Chang's lettuce wraps - but only $6.50. We ended up having 3 bubble teas (which were pretty sweet, but SO yummy, and loaded with boba) and another tea, as well - and the whole total only came to $34 and change. I'm definitely eager to go back, the lunch menu was not super extensive but it all looked GOOD and everything came out so quickly. It's small inside and parking can be a little tricky, but is free at least.

Not a fan. I went there for the first time last week and the sushi was horrible. It was sloppy and tasted days old. The service was sub-par and I definitely would never return. Looking for good sushi - go to Akashi, less than 10 minutes south of here.

I love to go to this place because it's just right in front of University of Miami. The parking is limited but I always can find it. Noodle here is so great and cost only 10$, huge bowl, highly recommend to get the noodle. The roasted duck with rice is very delicious (9$). Plus friendly service.

I don't love this kind of pan-Asian place; I'm not afraid to commit to a single cuisine when I go out. But I think they do it pretty well: the portions are huge, the price is right, the service is friendly, the interior is cute (love the windows), the location is handy, the ingredients are fresh. Actually, if I was a student at Miami, I'm pretty sure I'd be here once a week. Miami doesn't have the strongest reputation for Asian food (so I've heard) and this place isn't bad.

Food was mediocre. Doesn't really compare to anything you could get in Los Angeles,

  • Christopher P.

I'm always a bit skeptical of a restaurant that tries too many different cuisines. Asian fusion can mean, "jack of all trades, master of none". Not a bad lunch place for simple Asian inspired food. Rice bowl with chicken and Thai curry sauce was $7 plus drink and tip. Service was pleasant, rather quick and the sauce was tasty, The view of the sushi bar and menu made me think that other area sushi bars would get my business and not Stir Moon.

  • Tristia B.

I frequently order take out from Stir Moon, and I would recommend giving it a try. They have a wide assortment of tasty and interesting sushi rolls. I recommend the Sea of Love roll. Also, their pad thai and yellow curry are amongst the best that I've had in this city...although, that's not too high a bar to reach. It's overpriced, as is every sushi place, but their lunch specials are very reasonable. Also, they offer lunch specials over the weekend.

"Welcome to Stir Moon" - Jack Punma This is the phrase that greets you when you pick up one of Stir Moon's takeout menu's (One for Sushi, and another for their noodle and Thai selection). Situated right across from the University Miami in an remodeled building that was once a Burger King, I had high hopes for a low cost, high volume noodle joint that would cater to a university clientele so obviously available. Alas, what Stir Moon seems to be is nothing more than an inferior knockoff of the far superior Moon Thai, which is less than 30 feet away. They have some of the same dishes, seem to have the same menu printing company, and even thieved part of the name. This would lead one to believe that they had the same owners, yet the owners seem to be a pair of Latin men, one of which whose job seems to be to sit at the bar and look debonair. Perhaps if he paid more attention to the food than he did his looks, I'd go back again. When I walked in, strike one against Stir moon made itself apparent. There was a total of 4 patrons in the joint, and it was 8 o clock on Saturday. Deciding to make this a takeout affair, I ordered some chow-fun noodles to go. After the total rang up, strike two hit me in the wallet. $12.50 for chow-fun?! Scandalous! Waiting for my food, I looked through the menu to see if I had just hit a particularly bad example of pricing. Nope. Once of the atrocities on the menu was a $4 dim sum, which looked neither made from gold nor able to dance samba. Strike three came when I got home and tried my order of chow-fun. Thoroughly disappointed, I gave the restaurant more than one star for one and only reason: they took Amex. Fix your prices and you food, Jack, and then try me again.

I always have a good experience here but today the staff was very rude. They forgot to put in one our orders and kept telling us all night that the food would come. Everyone's food in our party came except for that one. We all had to wait another 20 minutes before the dish came out. Surprisingly, instead of apologizing we were told how to correctly order food at the restaurant.

I come here only at the begging of a few friends that crave noodle soup. Real noodle cafes don't really exist in Miami, but this one is probably the closest to a decent noodle shop. For some reason, every time I eat here, it tastes good for the first few bites but then, by the end of the meal, I'm dying of thirst (from all the MSG) and it's just not good! I've tried Stir Moon like 5-6 times and each time it's just not good. The ups are that it's near UM and it's cheap. And sometimes, when you want pho, ramen, thai boat noodles, or something like that, then yeah, I give in and go there.

Stir moon is great. It's two establishments over from the regular Moon establishment, but with a different menu. The dim sum is good, curry, tempura, and sushi are all excellent. Service is great, the a la carte menu is cheap and good. I end up eating there about twice a week

I go here for the pho soup which is always excellent. The waiters are friendly and efficient. I always enjoy it when I go to dinner there.

  • Min K.

Was craving for Vietnamese Pho and this was the nearest place that had it. The Pho was meh. Not authentic, definitely not beef broth. The beef was chewy, not tender. They could definitely be more generous with the raw bean sprouts on the side. Definitely not coming back for the Pho anymore. Hubby ordered the Pad Thai with beef which was not bad, but the portion was pathetic.

Oh stir moon! If only you knew how much I love you. This place is awesome and it is definitely one of my favorite spots to eat pho noodle! Their chicken pho is unbelievably delicious!!!!!!! I haven't tried much from the menu but I recently had the pad thai and found that to be delicious as well! Overall, the service is great and everyone is really nice! Oh and thee prices are great! What else could you possibly want? Did I mention that their pho is amazing? :)

Ehh. Mediocre food. Mediocre service. Stir Moon is located at the old BK location on the corner of the street across the street from Ponce Middle, for those that remember this. Walked in for lunch one day and the menu was completely different from the one that they have posted on their website. So many items that we were going to order was not available. I had the Green Curry Chicken. It was okay... Seems like they took a handfull of chicken breast slices and dumped it into a sweet/spicy curry, creamy sauce, threw some bamboo shoots, cooked until the chicken was ready and poured it into a bowl with rice. Yes, that simple. Taste was okay, it was edible, but very simple and not impressed with it whatsoever. Seems like they didn't even try... Going back, maybe not, anything else to say, probably not either. Yes, it was that SIMPLE...

Very good food for a very good price. Recommended for sure. Lots of other Asian places in town can be pricey and the food is just ok.

  • Sonia A.

Been here many times for lunch and gotta say they always fulfill my wanting of good Pad Thai, Veggie Fried Rice or other Asian inspired dish. I have also noticed the place is usually packed and there are many Asian patrons which in my book is a good sign seeing that if I see a lot of Hispanics in a Latin place I would think it's authentic enough to go to. Anyway, that should be a good sign right? The service is always good and pretty fast. The place is also usually very clean and has spacious booths! Parking may be a problem but I can walk to the place and not worry about that.

  • Yili W.

I go to Stir Moon probably like every 2 weeks. For the price I can get some decent Asian food. I've tried a lot of things here. Typically i choose between vegetables & tofu pad thai and vegetables & tofu red curry. But recently they have started charging $2-$3 for extra curry. What?? Curry is supposed to be like a soup and they don't really drench it with the rice so I used to always ask for extra. That was pretty annoying considering the curry itself is like $9. The Hong Kong noodle soup literally saved my life when I was sick. It is SO good. I also tried the Singaporean laksa and I wasn't a fan. The base is pretty tasteless. There's always a lot of international University of Miami students in Stir Moon, and I will likely continue to go here because of the price and quality! But one thing I really don't understand is that I'm pretty sure Stir Moon and Moon Thai are owned by the same people. Why are they 3 feet away from each other and serve almost identical menus?

    (4)
  • Brittany K.

For the low price, the quality is great. Fast service from friendly staff. I usually get the red curry rice bowl, but have tried other things are are also great. Friend rice is fresh! yummmm.

THUMBS UP I'm picky when it comes to pad thai. Its one of my favorite foods and it's a dish that for me, is either black or white, good or bad. THERE IS NO MIDDLE GROUND FOR PAD THAI. If it's "ok", it's bad and I won't eat it (so take it off the menu pei wei). This is the only place in Miami I will eat pad thai from. I order the chicken pad thai every single time I come here and douse it with the spicy red chili sauce. It's super cheap at $10 bucks and I usually have leftover. I've branched out and tried the tom yum soup. I've been back 4 times for it already. So ooo ooo goood!!!

A few days ago we tried 2 rice dishes off menu - Mongolian Beef & Kung Pao Shrimp Rice Bowls. My husband enjoyed the Mongolian Beef, the sauce was enough to mix with rice for a great combination. I had the Kung Pao Shrimp, wasn't impressed, my dish comes with dry chilies so I was excited being a blistering spicy foods fan, my dish was not spicy at all but rather sweet nonetheless very tasty. Today...is the 5x we return in 1 week's time. WE ARE OBSESSED! The noodle soups are fantastic, today I reordered the Honk Kong Wonton Noodle Soup - only disappointing thing about this soup is the menu description, it states the soup comes with shrimp yet it does not :-( again nonetheless delicious! My husband had the Korean Rice Salad (BimBipmap) he said it was fantastic and stayed hot throughout his entire meal since it comes in a nifty hot pot. We walked in at 10:48pm (they close at 11pm) they served us with a smile and no attitude. THANK YOU! We really really appreciated that beyond words. Totally recommend this place if you are in the mood for soups! Enjoy!!!

Before I begin, I feel it's necessary to specify that this review is for Stir Moon's take-out service....which is terrible. I called in to place a pick-up order using the menu found on Stir Moon's website to order the yaki soba noodles with beef and bok choy, Tom Yum Goong soup, and pan-fried chicken dumplings. It turns out that the online menu is very accurate compared to what they sell in house and I was informed over the phone that they only have shrimp dumplings. The person taking the order said they were good so I ordered those instead. They said the wait would be about 20 minutes. I showed up about 20 minutes later and found out that they had not even put my order in due to "confusion about what I wanted" even though they confirmed it on the phone before hanging up. They said they would rush the order so I would not have to wait. They handed me a bag with three containers, which I wrongly assumed contained the three things I ordered and I got home to find that they had not included my appetizer. The soup was okay (decently flavorful) but only contained 5 small shrimp in all of the broth. The yaki soba with beef was by far the most un-edible item I have ever received from any asian restaurant. The noodles looked and tasted like they had been microwaved for a couple minutes. The beef (what little of it there was...maybe 4 pieces) was chewy and tasteless. The bok choy was soggy and appeared to have not even been washed before being cooked. I still cannot believe I gave that restaurant my money for this crap. I will say that, despite my terrible experience with take-out, the things that people were ordering at the restaurant looked and smelled far better than what I received so maybe it's just one of those places that you have to eat in-house to enjoy but, frankly, given my past experience, I'm not sure I can bring myself to give them my business.

My opinion hasn't changed from last time. I just need to add: This leave has THE BEST Tom Yum soup I've had ANYWHERE. It's a must-have if you come here.

It's a nice place for quick Asian food at very reasonable prices. Stir Moon is right across US 1 from the University of Miami and at any give time there are many Chinese and other Asian students from UM dining there. Maybe it's just me, but when I see a lot of Asian people at an Asian restaurant and they are clearly regulars, I know I'm at the right place for good food. I realize Stir Moon is a noodle place, but please don't count this as a noodle review. I'm a rice guy so I can't comment either way on the noodles. I have had several of the rice bowls, which are under $10 and they have been great. The service is also quite good, even when they get busy during the diner rush, they do a pretty good job. Parking, on the other hand is hit or miss. They only have a few parking places out front and some on the side so be prepared to park across the street by the Junior High School. This street parking is fine, but it's a little bit extra to walk. (Which is probably healthier for me anyway!) We have a two-year-old and he loves it there. And I love to bring him with us because we generally order the roast duck rice bowl for him, and I eat what he doesn't . Another reason why the parking across the street is probably not so bad.

Awesome ramen for miami.. This place has a lot of hidden surprises. The pho is pretty good, pretty much any soup is excellent (though the wonton noodle soup was a bit flavorless when i tried it). The pad see ew and paid thai were also delicious! I love this place and they're very reasonably priced. Don't be fooled by the prices of Moon next door, they're not owned by the same people lol.

    (5)
  • Ralfy A.

Stir moon was a good place to go to lunch before they jacked up the prices. You can find a lot of Thai food in this establishment and it's very good food. The only problem is that moon Thai and stir moon are both owned by the same owner and now that the prices are very similar I would prefer to go to moon Thai instead to get more bang for my buck. Still a great place to try.

  • Natalie I.

I love this place, it's Thai/Asian and is so good and good for you! Very few things are deep fried, most is in the wok for a quick stir fry, lost of fresh veggies. The Dishes are full of flavor. I use to live down the road and would get take out at least once a week. When odering you can ask for no heat, low, medium, or high heat. Now I like low heat but even that makes me tear up. For take out i would get the Chicken pad Thai and crab wontons and use the wonton dip in the pad thai and it was just so yummy! I've eaten in a few times service was great. Most of the serviers hav an accent, but they are easy to understand, fast service and if you have any issue they will fix it no questions no fuss. It does get pretty busy around dinner time so parking can be iffy, just park across the street by the school. Try their noodles, I love their big flat noodles. Amazing sauces and excellent favors. Stir moon is a staple for the locals try it.

Amazing food and casual atmosphere. I ordered the Hong Kong noodles with duck. Seasoning was great, I didn't even need the siracha that's supplied on each table. Server was helpful at recommending items and was nice and food came out quickly. I will definitely come again and I wish there were more Asian restaurants in Miami!

Almost across from UM, located right on US1, parking can be tough as they only have so many spaces in a tiny parking lot. Once inside it has a small dining area, very casual with many UM students. They are smart, you can't beat their prices for the quality and quantity of the food. Service is very good as well. I ordered a noodle bowl with chicken. It was a large portion. All of the ingredients were fresh and it was OK. What I mean by OK is it was very bland. There was no flavor at all to it. I asked for some hot sauce just to give it a little something yet that did not even make it taste very good. Like I said the ingredients were super fresh. It just would have been much more enjoyable if it had some good flavor to it. Still a good restaurant with very reasonable prices, good service and I am looking forward to trying other items on the menu.

My husband and I only like Thai from this restaurant. We've been countless time and will go out of our way to eat here if we are craving Thai. Our usual order is spring rolls to share, ginger salad, tom yum soup to share and a chicken pad thai for him. It's affordable, delicious and never disappointments. Parking is never an issue and service is always good. It's not a fancy place by any means but if you want yummy and casual Thai, this is the spot.

  • Nicole F.

The worst pho of my life. It was literally plain chicken broth with rice noodles and chunks of beef. The server even admitted that it was chicken broth, not traditional pho broth. Plus, it was over priced. My biggest regret is not walking out on the bill, it was that horrible.

  • Richard D.

Where do most of the Asian students at the U go to have a proper meal? Sir moon. I feel like that's a pretty good indication of things lol. It's small but well spaced, servers are attentive and quick to deliver anything you might need. The kitchen is half glassed, so you're able to see the cooks preparing most of the dishes. Mixed with an occasional fire from the sauces. I can't say I've tried the entire menu and it's offerings, but I'll give you a glimpse of my last order while there. Wonton soup, Misu Soup, rock shrimp tempura, beef lo mein noodles and pork lo mein noodles(before you say "my that's a big order", there was two of us...or at least I try to tell myself that lol.) Everything is hot, cooked fresh and using good ingredients. The wonton soup itself tasted amazing. And the noodles I could stuff my face with till my arm got tired from lifting. For a more gourmet experience try the restaurant next door. It's the same owners and dare I say they use the same kitchen?

Quick, easy and affordable! The food is inconsistent, could be good, could be not so good but it 's a place for a quick meal at a very reasonable price. Limited street parking, but you can park across the street in the free street parking..

I only ordered here on the way to work when I was at mercy. Only thing I ordered was chicken pad Thai. Level 2 spicy was the perfect level of spicy the portions size is very good for 9$. Noodles are very tender and there is an okay amount of chicken. It comes with a wedge of lime and some bean sprouts which are fresh. I would come here again for the pad Thai. Very fresh and tasty. :)

Stir Moon has so much on the menu but everything is good. Very large UMiami lunch crowd, but large enough to accommodate your party. I get the Teriyaki chicken rice bowl. Very good for lunch or dinner.

While rating this restaurant, my viewpoint can only be on the RED and Green Curry (Thai Hot). Ever since I returned from my trip to SE Asia, I have been trying to find some authentic Thai Curry here in Miami. This is now my spot. I am not sure if their curry past is homemade, but it is as close to the real deal as you can find in Miami. The service is usually prompt and the prices are affordable. If you are in need of some tasty Thai Curry, this is the place to get it. A+

The menu items are grand, but the cooking is really sub-par. I tried the kimchi noodle pot. The meat was over-boiled and tough as shoe leather. The chinese sausage was a cheaper one that tasted more like a hot dog that had been thin cut. On a cool very wet day they have the A/C blowing full steam, with vents so low to the table that it was cooling down both my soaking-wet self and the food, which is a big no-no. Service was lost, meandering and awful. One of the waiters dumped a whole glass of water on a toddler carelessly picking up stuff off the table next to us. I had to track down my waitress twice to get things. Not cool. I know there aren't great noodle places in Miami, which can be the only explanation for the 4-5 star ratings from y'all. All that I can suggest to you, until I find one Miami-way worth a recommendation, is that you take the pilgrimage up to Joy Noodle in West Palm Beach, if you have a noodle jones. They destroy this third-rate eatery.

So sad was really looking forward to an authentic noodle bowl. The food here was not impressive at all. The bean sprouts and tofu dish maybe had 6 pcs of tofu and a full bowl of bean sprouts; it definitely shouldn't have been called tofu and bean sprouts. The chow fun and bok choy noodle dish literally had 2 stems of bok choy. The restaurant is very frugal in their use of everything! The only high point was the brown rice! I wouldn't go back... Sorry

Good value especially the fried chicken which is great. Lots of Asian students here it seems to be a favorite. Food is good and very inexpensive. I see why they come. I wish they would get better servers. The waitress (petite young Asian gal, hair in ponytail) was poor at best when we visited on Sunday for lunch. She didn't check to see if food was ok and didn't clear dishes or refill glasses. The place would be awesome if they get good help. Or properly train their servers in customer service.

All I have to say is that their noodles are AMAZING!!! The BEST noodles I've tried in Miami.... I just moved from NYC where there is a lot of amazing places for noodles but in Miami it's so rare to find good ones.. This is totally super recommended... Service is good...

Amazing food. I love the pad Thai it's to die for! The Mongolian beef is very tasty but be careful there are chilies. The soba noodles with bok choy is another favorite of mine. The bubble tea is also really good. I usually get taro it's sweet and milky, kind of filling. Also, the mango bubble tea is so refreshing. Thai donuts may possibly be the best dessert ever!

If you like overly salty udon, excessively fatty pork buns, and bland pad thai then this place is for you. I stopped in today since I was in the neighborhood. I used to love this place when it first opened and was disappointed to see that it has not retained its charm or good tasting food. Though it was not busy, there were dirty tables waiting to be cleared. We waited a long time for our food. The table that was seated after us received their food long before we did. My pad thai was brought out before my friend's udon and our pork buns came out with his meal. And they changed the pork buns--not for the better. I will say that the kimchi and shrimp served with the udon were excellent and the portion size was considerable for the price. I would not return to Stir Moon. It is not the place I remember--not sure if I grew to know better or if it devolved into something more unfortunate. Hopefully it will improve. Either way, skip Stir Moon for now.

Stir Moon should get 3 1/2 stars. the dishes are hit and miss. My Malaysian coconut curry soup was delicious!! my eggplant had a good flavor, but was soggy. the prices are inexpensive, and i love oriental noodle restaurants that are authentic. this is one. they also serve liquor or at least beer. i would go back to try more dishes. the restaurant is very basic inside, and the service is good. they have parking, which is at a premium, near the university. it is a convenient stop on US1. right across the street from U. of Miami.

This place has changed quite a bit in the last few years. My impression is that they have changed their menu to accommodate more UM students. There are few good pho places in Miami and I find this to be one of the decent ones. I haven't tried their other dishes yet. I usually go for their Udon Soup and Vietnamese Noodle Soup with lime and find both to be delicious. Neither is remarkable but just good enough to warrant another visit. Their chicken broth is good but could use some more flavor. It tastes a bit too watered down. Service is good as I have always found a server that is paying attention to my table. Parking can really be annoyingly hard to find in the evenings. Their small lot gets packed very easily. There is no street parking nearby so the only option is to wait and hope for someone to leave. Still, it's certainly better than driving to Broward to satisfy craving for a good pho.

At 10:30 PM, we arrived 30 minutes before the restaurants closed, starved and stressed from being held up at the airport for more than 2 hours past our expected arrival time, and we were craving Korean food. We called to order ahead, and we made an order of 2 Korean Bibimbap (also known as dol sot bibimbap) where you get a hot stony pot filled with rice, vegetables, meat, and cracked egg, with a small dish filled with red chili pepper paste ( chogochujang) to add for your taste. I absolutely love this dish! It reminds me of home, and you definitely get your money's worth ($9!). I love how the stone pot continues to be very hot, slowly cooking your cracked egg, and allowing the rice to have a slight crispy texture (just make sure to continuously stir the rice so the rice at the bottom doesn't become fully crisp). The waitresses were so kind to us, even though we stayed past 11. Great service, and great food! Definitely converting to a regular!

I love everything here. It's quick, quiet, they have the game on TV, the food is good, and they have tempura ice cream and tempura cheesecake. Can you say heaven? I go to this place all the time. Sometimes for a quick bite, sometimes for a nice meal with friends, and they're open late and have take out if it's been a long day and I'm too tired to cook. It may not be the fanciest restaurant in Coral Gables, but UM students will keep this place running for a long time.

American dream roll and that's it. The best roll I have ever had. Pairs nicely with the magic moon because AD ROLL is a heavier roll. Service is good, and they have an outdoor patio to enjoy the nice Miami weather.

Great Asian cuisine with reasonable prices! What else can I ask for? You can order by txt messages and pick it up! Oh and the menu is pretty extensive. I always order the fried rice and it's a lot of food for one!

Amazing curry and all kinds of Asian delights. I prefer the masaman curry and the red curry. The vegetable options that they include with their food is great. It is made to order so be prepared to wait a little bit because this place is in demand. You know an Asian restaurant is great when you see Asian people sitting down to eat there. There is a bit of demand on parking around the area so that is something to consider. For dessert I got adventurous and ordered the tempura cheesecake served with ice-cream. It was amazingly good. Overall this is a clean place with a couple televisions so you can watch the game if you want. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Miami!

I have been here twice & I really enjoyed my experience here. The waiter(s) are attentive, they help you out in choosing different dishes, and the food is AMAZING. They have two menus with different dishes so its like visiting two different restaurants at the same time. It is pricey buuuut their food is really strong in flavor. So you are getting a plate that is memorable in taste & unique in the sense that you can't find their ingredients in any corner market. a quick tip, make sure you are fully stacked in cash. I recommend trying out different dishes from this place to sample its flavors :)

Stir Moon is really great. I love all their soups, so I would definitely recommend them. The curry could have more vegetables and less rice in their dishes though. But I like this place because its more authentic than Sushi Maki and cheaper. The service is good too, everyone is pretty friendly.

The food is sub par, and the customer service for me a few times wasn't very pleasing. Parking is a extreme pain as well. However the food does come out very quick, and the bubble tea is always a delight. Overall its an average place with average food.

Yelpers, your prayers (or your reviews at least) have been answered! Frank E. wanted refills and cheaper prices: You got both now! How? Maybe they read the Yelps? No need to be pinched, you're not dreaming, you can afford to eat Asian again! The owners have decided to try a new menu, possibly a name change for the restaurant to Asian Wok Fusion. Original? No, but with cheaper prices and refillable drinks who gives a cat's a... :) Although the choices are limited, there should be something for everyone. Pad Thai, Pad See Eiew, Lo-Mein, and other noodles all just $7 Rice Bowls with choice of beef, chicken, or pork now $7.50 There's more, but go find out for yourself since you can't miss the new menu, it stands about 10 feet tall. Looking for Volcano Chicken? It's not on the menu, but you can ask for volcano sauce for your rice bowl and they will be happy to accommodate. Unfortunately the Sushi hasn't received the same cheap treatment, so you'll just have to fill up on soda instead! I'm definitely eating here more often!

Horrible dining experience! Wanted to try the noodle soups, which I heard were good. I tried the Tom You soup. It tasted like bland ketchup broth. I sent it back, but they wouldn't remove it from the bill because they said I tasted too much. No one in my party enjoyed their food. One of us ordered the Emporer Salad, which was $6, and consisted of some romaine lettuce, fried wantons, and parmesian cheese. It certainly didn't contain all the other vegetables the waiter promised. Here's some adjectives my friends used to describe this place: disgusting, smelly, dirty, vile, and bland.

I almost boycotted Stir Moon forever when I came here last time and found out they did away with their sushi menu. Can you believe it? NO MORE SUSHI! I guess it was taking away too many customers from Moon. But craving some peanut salad and crab wontons, I found myself back here again. And very surprised to see the change in menu - no more Pei Wei copycat. Now they have a "small, medium, or large" plate size menu, on top of their same old stir fry rice & noodle bowls. Tried some of the new items, like Shrimp Shumai, Rock Shrimp, & Sweet & Sour Tofu - none too impressive. I was also shocked to see Stir Moon empty on a Saturday night! Doesn't seem like they are doing too well, maybe if they added some sushi?

The food was fine. Basic. Nothing special. Noodles were noodles, and the meat was stiff like a stale frozen blintz wrap. If I could give management 0 stars, I would. There are very few things that you just can't do in Miami. Kicking people out of a restaurant with 1:51 left on the clock in the 4th quarter of a REALLY tight Heat game is one of those things. The manager was very upset about having people staying in after closing to watch the Heat/Celtic game. But instead of politely telling her patrons that they needed to find somewhere else to watch the end of the game, she began complaining very audibly to her employees. "Why won't these people leave?" "I want to go home!" (After a cop drove by) "Yeah, I called the police to kick all of you out because you won't leave." -- Mind you, she never directly told any of the us that they were closing up immediately and needed us to get out of there. We were all obviously very invested in the game. Very invested. If she wanted us to leave, she could have explained to us right at 11 (Closing time, 4 minutes left) that we weren't going to be able to finish the game in the restaurant. She waited until the (literal) last minute before saying anything to us. -- When she finally did, after all the audible complaining. She came up to us and said "Okay, you can go now." I just had to laugh. The manager ended up leaving because she "didn't want to work anymore". (Or rather, just stay clocked in and wait around for the game to end.) The waitresses volunteered to stay for 5 extra minutes to keep the place open so we could watch the end of the game. (Which I'm pretty sure they were fine with because they seemed pretty into it.) I don't know how this woman ended up in a position of management, but she made my entire experience at Stir Moon excruciatingly awkward. But, it does make for a funny story.

This place is great for lunch- the service is quick and so is the food. Oh, and of course, delicious. The prices are relatively inexpensive as it all depends on what you get. I ate Spring Rolls and Pad Thai. Both very good. I would probably come here again whenever I need a Thai fix since it's right in front of UM. You see a lot of students and as the saying goes, whenever you see people of the nationality eat at the restaurant, it's gotta be good!

I went in late last night to finally check this place out. I was in a hurry but wanted to try the Pho. Everything was securely packed in separate to-go containers. Beef and broth, noodles and vegetables, garnishes and sauces all there. As for the actual taste, well everything was very fresh and the broth was delicious. Could have used a bit more beef but there were noodles a plenty. I will certainly be back. Typical giant portion all for $10.

I had looked up their menu through this site and had decided on all kind of things, but apparently not everything in the menu online is available at every location and most things I had seen on the online menu was not offered at the Dixie Hwy location or at least that's what our server told us. Anyways my boyfriend and I ended up asking for the pho which was good, the pork buns which were really big, and shrimp dumplings. To drink we were super excited for the bubble tea they were ok but a couple of blocks away at LAN Pan Asian cafe the bubble teas are to die for and these did not match up. So from our part the experience was not bad and the food was good although truthfully I don't see myself coming back because there was nothing really memorable and there are plenty of good Asian restaurants around. We also had a good friend of mine join us for dinner and she hated her food, I forget which specific type of noodles she ordered but they were super greasy and salty. Also for some reason our waitress was super rude to her only to her! She was nice to us maybe the fact that my boyfriend is Chinese put me in the ok zone, but our friend wasn't so lucky it was kind of funny to us but not so much to our friend hahahaha

I love their noodles. My favorite is the Thai style chow fun (pad see yew) with tofu and vegetables. Hot off the wok, (acutally it comes in a little wok) loaded with fresh veggies it's almost too little noodles! Deliciously flavored, though the noodles sometimes can be on the mushy side. At less than $10 what a bargain! The Chow Fun with broccoli is very similar, more Chinese than Thai in its flavor. Their soup noodles are slurpingly delicious. The tom yum noodle soup is slightly spicy and very limey, and they gladly substitute the meat with tofu for me. I also like their bibimba for a hot summer day. Here it is served slightly different from the traditional Korean restaurant: rice in one bowl and the veggies (turnip, carrot, bean sprout, mushroom, spinach, lettuce etc.) topped with shredded beef and fried egg in a separate bowl, along with a dish of hot bean sauce. I guess it may sound weird to eat salad with rice though that's how it's commonly served in Asia. Their curry dish is not that great, and generally speaking, avoid the beef as it's not the best cut of meat (though with that price you can't expect prime cuts). For drinks they have Thai tea and coffee, and bubble tea as well. Not the best bubbles but hey in Miami just be grateful it's available. Service is friendly and fast, the pan Asian menu has enough variety to keep me returning, prices very reasonable: this is a winner. Would love it if they stays open later. The only problem is the lack of parking spot in front, though if you cross the street there are plenty of spots.

This is my family's "go-to" place for noodles in Miami. Let's face it, Miami is not SF, so finding a halfway OK noodle place is not trivial. If you know of something better, then tell me, really. I like the place, and staff are nice. The noodle soups (e.g. Pho) are good, and prices are more than fair. And, the food is fairly consistent only once did a prepared dish not meet our expectations (pad thai). The lo mein is always good, even my son eats the broccoli. I might miss SF, but at least Miami (OK.... I know it's in the Gables, but whatever...) has Stir Moon.

Stir Moon is a decent thai/asian fast-food restaurant on US-1 near UM. As other reviewers have mentioned, it closely resembles a Pei Wei in the way the menu is setup. The entrees are either a noodle bowl or rice bowl, your choice of meat (chicken, pork, beef, shrimp or tofu/vegetables), and choice of sauce. They do have a few options that seem to be uniquely thai, making this restaurant a bit different than Pei Wei. This is also a fully sit-down restaurant, so no ordering at a counter. I wasn't feeling too adventurous last night - so I tried the shrimp lo mein ($7.50) and my husband had the curried chicken/potato rice bowl ($7.50). Both were decent, the curry was much better than the lo mein. We also ordered the spring roll appetizer (2 rolls-$3.00) and the thai donuts ($3.50) for dessert. We quickly looked over their sushi menu (they have a sushi bar), but the prices seemed to be the same as a Sushi Maki-type place, with the same generic sushi. About $8-$15 per roll. What I am excited to try on another night are the soups - they have the "regulars" like miso, wonton, etc. But they also have a list of four or five special vietnamese/thai noodle soups ($10.00 each) which I will definitely try on another visit. For the price, the food was filling and satisfying. What can you expect for $27.00, including an appetizer, two entrees, a dessert and tax/tip? Not worth a special trip, but definitely is deserving of a cheap meal if already in the area.

The food is so great and at a great price, but the rude servers makes it a place that I will NEVER go to again. I asked for her to get me things because she would forget and she would give me attitude and when taking the order she had so much sass. I do not understand why they can't hire better people because their food is well prepared and people would go, if they had tolerable people working there as well.

With so much bad Asian food in Miami, this place is legit! I've tried many different things here. The menu offers many authentic choices from various Asian countries, it's inexpensive, the portions are correct, and the service is good. It's mostly Asian students from the U. across the street eating there. So, you know it's the real deal.

I've been meaning to do a review of this place for the longest time. Let me just say right off the bat this is one of my favorite places to eat in all of Miami for asian cuisine. The food is amazing and tastes of the highest quality. The staff is always friendly and attentive. Food comes out quick, piping hot, and full of flavor. I have yet to try something there and not like it. My current favorite right now is the Tom Yum Lime Noodle Soup. It bursts with flavor and the bowl they serve it to you in you could literally dive in and take a swim in. Chock full of noodles, protein, veggies, delicious broth. I'm salivating as I'm typing this FYI. I can never finish it in one sitting. So worth it for what you pay. I love this place. I can't recommend it enough. Great prices, great portions, great service. It's just great.

I would give this place 5 stars but if you don't know what to get here, you can easily become underwhelmed. Lets just get it out there now... Lettuce wraps are not authentic asian(screw you PF Changs for this)...neither are crab wontons. If you like those things..more power to you. I, personally, search for authentic flavor profiles...and Stir Moon delivers. This is hands down my favorite asian restaurant in Miami. If you do a quick visual survey when you walk in, you'll see that many other asians(mainly Chinese students) share this opinion. But none of them are getting lettuce wraps or egg rolls or whatever other americanized dish. What they ARE getting is the noodle soup. I've tried almost all of the noodle soups here and most of them score very high marks. Its impressive considering that they try and cover chinese, korean, vietnamese, and thai all in one place. But they do an amazing job of it. There have been a couple items added to the menu in the last month and they are spectacular. Spicy korean ramen tops the list of the new additions. Noodles are where they shine. I have had, and continue to get the rice bowls...they offer some decent flavor and good value(the choice of brown rice free of charge is awesome). The other side of the menu(i.e. the side with the expensive stuff) ive never tried...but nothing on there seems particularly enticing. The boba(tapioca)(pearl) milk tea here is just ok. Though I think all that Ive ever had here is just ok. One special note...they have a soup here, the daikon soup...every time i have this soup, I am transported to my childhood when my grandma would make the same kind of soup and that daikon-y smell would waft through the house. Its amazing. Get it. You wont be sorry. This place is awesome. Seriously.

I heard that Stir Moon sits where a Burger King used to be. Strangely, Stir Moon has a tiny tiny TINY parking lot next to a used book store. They serve Asian cuisine (fusion and otherwise) including Chinese fried rice, Japanese sushi (complete with sushi bar), Vietnamese soups, Thai curries (only red). There's an open kitchen so you can watch the cooks at work. The food was surprisingly good with large servings (think Cheesecake Factory, if you've been). One low point was my curry (I ordered L13, curry with egg fried rice, for $10) - I was told that it could be made spicy: 1-4 stars, with 4 being the spiciest. I asked for a 6 and our server laughed (he probably thought I was kidding), so I told him 4 instead. When it came out, it was more like a one or one-and-a-half (and that's pushing it). However, it was DELICIOUS. Other entrees our group ordered: - L1 Tri Asian ($12) - L2 Oriental Mix, egg fried rice ($10) - Guay jub ($10) - Pho beef soup ($10) - for what it's worth, the bowl was ginormous - Tom yum seafood (good flavor, slightly atypical for tom yum and also in a HUGE bowl) ($12) - L5 Blue Moon ($12) Pricey lunches, no matter how you cut it. Service was fine. Definitely 3.5 stars (leaning towards a 3.75). Recommended. (Thanks for Cindy W. for telling me about my mis-posted write-up! Weston and Coral Gables are not the same place it seems, haha!)

You MUST go to this place if you want noodle soup. That's all I order when I go there. The duck noodle soup and pho. The bowls are HUGE and $10 and I can never finish a whole bowl. The selection of pho isn't that great compared to real pho places like in Atlanta or on the west coast, but it does its job. I've had a couple of their other stuff, like the stir fry/curry rice bowl stuff, and it's alright, nothing special. Also, the Thai doughnuts are really good too, but I've never been to a Thai-run place where the doughnuts are bad. So overall, I'm giving it 4 stars for the noodle soups, but it really deserves 3 stars for everything else.

There is a episode of Will & Grace that Grace &Karen find this new noodle place called Happy Noodles. And Grace says that the noodles are so good that she want to swim in a big pool of them. This is how i feel about Stir Moon. 'nough said!

Customer service has improved, but some of the prices are ridiculous. I like that they have brown rice. Love their vegetables fry ricenot a fan of their meats (chiken, beef) because it comes some what dry. The parking lot is very small so you have to park across the street (Watch out for the incoming cars that do not stop at the stop sign). Do not park at the school you might get a ticket. Free parking across the street no meters!

I've been to this place twice. The parking is a little hard on the weekends, but you can park across the street at the middle school's parking. The service is really good; the waitresses were very friendly. I never drink, but I saw that they have some beers and wines; I always drink iced tea; it was really good, brewed at the restaurant. The first time I went I ordered some flat noodles with pork. Delicious!! Very tasteful...I wanted more! My friend ordered shrimps with rice, that were really good. The last time I went, my friend and I ordered Pad Thai. I think it is one of the best I've tried. They come in a little pot that might seem small, but it is just the right portion. I ordered a chicken and broccoli rice bowl for my hubby. He loved it! He only said that...sorry, but he's a man of few words. I will go back to try more dishes...

OMG, never has having noodles been a filling experience. Not for me, at least... untillll STIR MOON. The Vietnamese Pho is my favorite! I am a fan of Udon, but beware, although still good, its not the usual.. and comes with a side of shrimp tempura. Service is great, it's a small place near UM... parking is scarce, so come early!

Best fried rice i've ever had. Very flavorful and tasted very fresh, and mushy. But a good mushy. The thai donuts aren't very good. Sort of just a half-thought of flash fried dough and some sort of vanilla dipping. I wouldn't recommend it. Service was on point, and although I took my food to go, the dude at the front was spot on. I also got to try a roll of theirs with this yellowish scallop topping, and that was unbelievable. The parking i'll say is a bit of a wait, so prepare your quick hawk-eyes. The same ones you use at the mall parking lot.

What a treat last night! I was busy running around South Miami and the Grove taking care of some errands when 9 o'clock crept up on me. I would have probably kept going on about my business if the sudden urge for some Thai/Japanese didn't cross me. But, how could I resist? It was right there on the corner, eye-balling me and screaming "come in! come in!" I circled around back for parking and then it dawned on me that I couldn't walk into Moon Thai & Japanese wearing leggings, a tank top and sneakers during prime dinner time. As the smell of sweet terriyaki and curry slipped in through the windows of the car my stomach began to grumble. At least I thought I could have kept on going about my business. Who am I kidding? My stomach always wins these debates. Considering my wardrobe, I decided to walk just two doors down to their sister-restaurant, Stir Moon. The crowd is a little more casual with the familiar faces of college students scattered about. The menu is a little simpler and significantly cheaper than Moon Thai but don't let that take away from the same great taste. The food and service is great. Plus, where else can you get a more than hefty serving of rice with terriyaki chicken and broccoli? Mmmm... Rice bowls under $10 makes the food even more appetizing! Maybe I'm just easily satisfied, but the convo with my Filipino server, Gloria made my dining experience all the more enjoyable. Read more: blessmypalate.blogspot.c…

After finally settling into a permanent menu after quite a bit of reincarnations of some Asian theme... Stir Moon has found their groove. Fairly priced, healthy portions, simple and delightfully prepared food. Usually I don't like places that have a little bit of everything but that is what Stir Moon does best. Serving sizes are large and I usually do takeout on my way home after a busy day. It satisfies that sushi craving and my favorite take-out item is Pho soup. The Pho is not your traditional tripe version but simply chicken or beef with fresh herbs and noodles. Very satisfying, and great when you have a cold. Stir Moon offers a variety of food - from pad thai to curry and sushi and everything is solid - it's no hidden secret but reliable.
